Lockable storage for building sites, vans and gardens, made in Tilburg from 1.5 and 2 mm sheet steel. No box is theft proof. Ours are merely slow.

Summary of Findings

Four boxes, two thicknesses of steel, one workshop.

The two site chests are 2 mm steel and meant to sit in the mud for years. The van box bolts through a van floor. The garden box is galvanised and painted, and has vents, because people keep their lawnmowers in it and lawnmowers sweat. Every model, size and weight is set out on the boxes page.

Each one is welded, ground, painted and tested here before it leaves, and stock models go out within five working days.

Conclusion, Provisional

A good box does not stop a thief. It makes the job long, loud and dull, and most people give up and go home.

That is the whole idea, and the reason every hasp is tested with the same crowbar. How the testing works is on the testing page.

Method, in Brief

  1. 3.1Sheet steel is cut and folded, never bent cold over a sharp edge.The corners are folded, so there is no seam to lever.
  2. 3.2Every seam is welded inside and out, and the welds are ground flat.A bead on the outside is somewhere to start a bar.
  3. 3.3The hasp is welded to the body, not bolted, and sits inside a shroud.A padlock in a shroud cannot be reached with bolt cutters.

A Note on Closures

We close for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, and for Carnival week in February, because nothing gets welded in Tilburg that week and pretending otherwise helps nobody. Anything you send in either week is answered on the first working day after.
